Kali Filipino Martial Arts, known as Kali, Eskrima, or Arnis, are martial arts from the Philippines. Filipino Kali is a military art and is based primarily on using weapons for self defense. It was developed in times of war and colonial invasion and was used by the Filipinos to fight the invading Spanish and Japanese. Filipino Kali is known for its reality-based approach and functional training. Kali practitioners are famous for being weapons experts.

What makes Filipino Kali different from other arts is that new students start by learning weapons first. Just like the military trains its new soldiers by giving them a rifle, a gun, and a knife during boot camp, it makes sense to start training with weapons first. If you really want protect yourself on the streets, doesn't it make sense to have a hand-held weapon with you? Statistics show that over 90% of all street crimes involve a hand-held weapon of some kind. This is where Filipino Kali becomes most valuable. Filipino Kali's number one specialty is to neutralize armed attackers with your own weapons or in worst case scenarios, with empty hands. The more prepared you are, the better your chances of survival.  Think about it - in order to defend against a weapon, don't you need to know what that weapon is capable of? If you're not familiar with weapons, how can you expect to defend against them?

Our Filipino Kali curriculum is based on the legendary Guro Dan Inosanto's FMA system. This system is a blend of all the training and knowledge that Guro Dan Inosanto received from his 34 Filipino martial arts instructors.
